Including this in the list of runner-up is debatable for most, especially within’ the electronic community who would probably say it’s a disappointment in comparison to his early albums (No, it’s not the uber-lame album cover that makes it a disappointment for them – ok, maybe, yes a little). It is a true statement that BT’s 6th studio album is a vastly different feel and sound than his 1st albums. He has ventured quite a bit of ways from his trance roots. Also, let’s be honest, BT is not the most eloquent lyricist. His songs are elementary-level with regards to meaning and is a close mirror to the mainstream pop that you will hear on the radio.

So why is this a runner-up for me? Well simply put, electronic music composition is where BT shines. He puts the glitches in the right place. He has vocal melodies that stick in your head for hours on end. He tweaks the build of a synth in the right timing. Most of the tracks on this double CD album are composed with elegance. I understand the arguments that he is crossing the electronic sound into the mainstream and pop world, but he does it with a lot more eloquence than the butchering that Black Eyed Peas and David Guetta have done.

The great thing about this album is that it has attracted some of the best remixers in the world and as such have produced some of the best trance and house remixes this year. Producers like Breakfast, Marcus Schossow, Ferry Corsten, and Armin Van Buuren have worked there magic on tracks from this album. It’s definately an album worth hearing, even if you may not be the biggest electronic music fan.
