Darren Criss and Tuft’s Beelzebub Acapella Group – Hey, Soul Sister (Cover)

I’ve been waiting for another acapella cover. And here it finally came. It’s great, but I may not like it as much given this song has been way overplayed already at this point. However, the arrangements are still interesting.

What was a true shocker is that the Glee Cast covered a relatively indie band – Florence and The Machine. (Although they are rising in popularity right now.) It’s cool to see the show cover songs beyond the pop and oldies realm. Though to be honest, the original of “Dog Days Are Over” is way better than the Glee version. You can decide for yourself:

Darren Criss and Tuft’s Beelzebub Acapella Group – Teenage Dream (Cover)

I’m not a fan of glee in general. I thought I would be after the amazing cover of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing”. Somehow I keep watching the show though and the majority of songs covered either seem half-efforted or have way too much flashiness to really sound like a true “glee” cover. Tonights cover of “Teenage Dream” caught me off guard though. I can confidently say they made an absolute crap of a song and turned it into a piece of gold. The harmonies, the arrangement is so good – it far exceeds the original! High Five!

(I really hope we get more true acapella arrangements in the show.)
